SNAP - Swings & Slides & Bee - Oh My

Linking in with Helena & the other snappy folks.  Have a peek & then join in the fun at : SNAP

This week's SNAP collection is from my walk to the tree I am following for the year.  My tree resides on the edge of the park & corn field.  I was surprised that on such a beautiful morning, the park was empty. Maybe everyone was over at the splash pad?  The township has spent a lot of money upgrading & supplying new play equipment.  All of the equipment is situated on a 3 foot bed of soft wood mulch.  Other than the 4 areas I have shown, there are several other play pods that should engage kids in climbing, bending, stretching, pushing - the full works of play, but I have no idea what the bee does for fun.

Memorandum Monday - July 25th

Five months today is Christmas - there I have said it.

Linking in with our hostess, Sian & sending a big wave to all the Monday Memo writers connecting at From High In The Sky

New from the patio?  Well it really has been too hot to move away from the  cool of inside of the house to even the patio. (gratitude for air conditioning).  Further water restrictions, fire bans, drought conditions, all official notifications we have received this week.

As of Sunday evening, I am half way through book 5, The Order of The Phoenix of the Harry Potter re-read.  On Saturday, while finishing book 4, The Goblet of Fire, I had quite a laugh out loud moment;  "An excellent point, said Professor Dumbledore.  My own brother, Aberforth was prosecuted for practising inappropriate charms on a goat. It was all over the papers, but did Aberforth hide?  No, he did not! He held his head high & went about his business as usual.  Of course, I'm not entirely sure he can read, so that may not have been bravery."

We did buy a new paper shredder, one that cross cuts. Both Mr Man & I do a lot of work from home & it is imperative that some documents are destroyed correctly.   This new shredder is so quiet, which makes a change from the old one.

I have a new rant.  It seems the latest catch phrase is when you tell someone you love them, the reply is now,  love you moreReally love is now a competition.

Wishing everyone a very lovely week ahead & hoping that everyone gets the weather conditions that they regionally require & need; for us it is rain & several hours of it.

My thought for today:  Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Memorandum Monday - July 18th

Although our lovely hostess & her family are on holidays for a few days, I will still link in with our hostess Sian at: From High In The Sky

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.  What is new from the patio?

Well for this week's new report -we were off the patio on a wander/adventure.

We both were feeling overwhelmed with world news & family stuff; we needed to take ourselves out for the day, away from routine.

Our style for this wander was tossing the dice for direction, 2nd right, then go straight, take the next left, kind of drive to wander on some back roads.

This wander took us past two types of soaring clubs.  One was the hand gliders & the other ultra light (glider) planes.  Big fluffy clouds, a slight breeze was prefect gliding weather. We parked in a field & watched something new to us.  I found it interesting that the hand gliders, the people were zipped into a sort of sleeping bag.    Anyway a couple of photos from our wander.  No we are not planning to take either up as a new sport.

Our wander did distract us & when we returned home, we had a lovely late afternoon sit & read on the patio - the neighbourhood was very quiet.  Sunday we stayed home & puttered inside & out.  Two days to refresh our hearts & minds.  The rain gauge on the left is again dry/empty.

Hope everyone has a blissful week.  My thought for today; I want to live in a world where a chicken can cross the road without her motives being questioned.

He always makes me chuckle

Memorandum Monday - July 11th

Linking in with all the other Monday Memo writers, along with our fair hostess, Sian.

News from the patio:

Another hot, humid, quiet week.  Not a lot of anything new to report on.

New shopping experience.  We went telescope shopping for Mr Man. Oh my there are SO many types to choose from. He has long had an interest in the night skies.  We did not buy one, but had several of our questions answered as we go through the specs to see which, if any, we decide upon.  So for now we will continue with the "apps" we have loaded on the i-pad, i-phones & use our eyes to seek out the space station & heaven's boundary of stars & planets.  Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight,  I wish I might, I wish I may, have this wish tonight.

Maybe like this.  Source: From the Internet

I started my annual re-read of the Harry Potter series; what is new about this is that I started to read the "adult" hard cover series that I had received 2 years ago as a birthday present. No more saving for some unknown event - now is the event.

We bought 2 new patio chairs, so that we have 6 matching patio chairs. The 2 new chairs are currently situation in our "park" designate area of the back garden, just off the patio.  We refer to it as the park because the area under the tree nothing will grow so we filled the area with pea gravel.  The shade under the big dense maple has been much appreciated in the heat this week.  We are also under a total open fire ban along with an upgraded Level 1 water usage, so more watering restrictions.  My garden is struggling & already there are heat & humidity warnings out this morning for Tuesday to Thursday.

The birdbath has been empty this week - umm I have no idea as to why.  I change the water daily, no roaming neighbour cat about & it is in the same place.  ?????

The new Monday thought to ponder is; a 100% Attitude is everything - even the maths prove it.  When you look at each letter's position in the alphabet it does add to 100.
A=1 T=20 T=20  I=9 T=20 U=21 D=4 E=5  =100

Five on The 5th - July

5 in 5: The idea is that on the 5th of each month, post 5 photos you have taken in 5 minutes.  Linking in with Sandie

I had a windy & hot wandered around my garden at 5pm to take 5 photos in 5 minutes.  A theme appeared all on its own - promises or potential of blooms.

Memorandum Monday - July 4th

Good Monday morning to you all.  To have a visit with the other Monday Memo writers & Sian, our hostess, you can link in here: From High In The Sky.

Happy Independence Day to my USofA Friends.  Canada Day on Friday was a mixed bag of weather, nothing horrible, but nothing fantastic.  Too windy for fireworks.

What is new from the patio.  Another fairly quiet front on learning or doing anything new.

A beautiful afternoon on the patio

On Saturday Mr Man & I attended a family gathering of my foster Mom; her eldest daughter was home, (she currently lives just outside of Atlanta, Georgia).   No photos to share but fun was had by all.  I had a 4 year old madam instruct me on how to properly wash my hands after using the bathroom (an inspection followed) & I spent time with a 7 year old discussing dragons & what is good about them.  I can honestly say I learnt many new things from both these little ladies.  Oh by the way, blue dragons are the best.

With corn being grown as the crop in the field behind us,  this weekend saw the new season  start checks by police airplane & helicopter.  They fly fairly low over corn fields looking for anyone growing marijuana amongst the corn plants.  On a Sunday afternoon it is quite annoying however necessary.

Corn growing like a weed

One of our residence chipmunks, Vincent (VVG to his friends) showed up  Sunday with a new wound;  his ear is split in two.  A few moments afterwards, Clipper showed up with part of his tail missing.  I think it is seed wars.

Vincent into the seed

Monday, a new beginning, a new perspective, let's make today count.  Hoping everyone enjoys a wonderful week & I definitely have things on the To Do List for some new things.
